Book Mirror
Book title with Mirror in it?

It is about two women (grandmother and granddaughter) who exchange lives through a mirror. One went back in time and the other went forward. The one who went back tried to not get pregnant by her grandmother’s husband by using a penny as a diaphragm. It doesn’t work and she names the stillborn daughter Penny. She has gets freaked out because she can’t shave her legs … it’s really frustrating that I can remember these details but not the name of the book or the author. This is a book my mother read and she shared it with me but it disappeard from my grandfather’s house…

The Mirror, by Marlys Millhiser?

“A three-generational dynastic novel with a peculiar twist: the minds of grandma Brandy and granddaughter Shay have been transposed by a magic mirror. (The mirror specializes in driving folks to suicide, but in this case has made an exception.) Brandy, a virginal young pioneer miss, wakes up in the (by her standards) naked body of swinging Shay in 1978. She is, moreover, not only engaged but pregnant, and very drawn to her fiancee Marek–who realizes that she has suddenly become rather odd. Conversely and meanwhile, her hip descendent Shay wakes up in the middle of a forced marriage in a Colorado mining town, and carries on from there, valiantly investigating 19th-century sexual mores and incessantly predicting the future. Brandy’s daughter Rachael, caught between these two freaks, has a worse time than anyone. A not-too-successful but somewhat intriguing blend of the Gothic and Time-Machine fantasy.”
