what is the better between Sata Or IDE hard disk?

what is the best hard disk SATA or IDE? SATA Is a newer system that IDE if im not wrong. but if sata is better and newer that IDE that why is an IDE hard disk costs the double price of SATA? whats the better choice? im using sata right and i never got a problem. but i want to upgrade with an other hard disk
