How do i install a ubuntu on a brand new hard drive?
I want to install ubuntu linux on a brand new hard drive, how do i do that?
Do i have to format the hard drive first and then install it in?

If you have an Ubuntu disk it will do everything for you. Just put it in the CD/DVD drive and run the installation from there. Make sure your computer is configured to Boot from this drive before looking for boot sector on the hard drive.
I think that an Ubuntu disk is a “Live” disk i.e. capable of running your computer without installing, so that you can try it before you commit to it.
Another thing you need to consider is if you want to have a dual boot HD with Windows and Ubuntu you really need to install Windows before you install your Ubuntu.
