What dvd drive can I get to replace the broken dvd drive in my Toshiba Satellite laptop?

I have Toshiba Satellite P100-ST9012 laptop (model PSPA6U-02E012) with dvd drive that’s no longer working. I want to watch dvds on my laptop and to burn dvds for dvd backup. Will any internal dvd drive for laptop be compatible?

Electrically, DVD players are compatible. The problem with laptops is that components are squeezed in, so finding a non-Toshiba replacement part may be a nightmare.

I’d opt for the external DVD burner, myself.
