Iomega External Hard drive Files corrupt, need your help!?
My father recently purchased an Iomega eGo external hard drive. He set it up yesterday, put all of his important documents and pictures on it, and trusted that it wouldn’t break down.
Today, I visited my home without my computer, and tried to charge my ipod in the adjacent USB port. I had to eject my Ipod because for some reason the computer wasn’t charging it.
From that point on the computer won’t register the drive properly, and it says that all the files are corrupt, which doesn’t make much sense. The only thing I touched was the USB port next to it.
The Iomega website isn’t very user friendly, and doesn’t offer very much help when it comes to fixing something that goes wrong.
Any advice as to how we can potentially get these files back would be great,
Am I correct in assuming that your dad doesn’t have copies of the files that he put on the drive that crashed? If so, then you should run data recovery software to recover as much of the data as possible before trying to fix anything. any attempts to fix the problem can damage the data further.
Your dad should know never to trust that a drive will not break down. Any drive can fail at any time.
PM me if you would like more info…
