Lexmark’s M 410 B/W Laser Printer – A Brief Overview

The Lexmark Optra M410 Printer is a black-and-white laser kind of printer. Its storage and media handling capacity are expandable for meeting varying productivity demands. Hassle-free machine operation and connectivity makes for a user-friendly home and office tool. There are a variety of media types and sizes supported for churning out high-quality day-to-day documents, especially when coupled with Lexmark M410 replacement toners.

Within its clean-looking white enclosure is a Toshiba 3907 processor which runs at a speed of 74MHz. This powerhouse allows the machine to provide as much as 12 monochrome pages per minute. From power on, it only takes 17 seconds for the first page to be ejected. With an LCD screen for printer messages and a few large buttons on the front panel, operation doesn’t have to be confusing.

Its body has a dimension of 15.9″ (depth) x 12.4″ (width) x 17.1″ (height) and tips the scale at 32.6 lb only. Because it has a small footprint, it’s ideal for placing on a desktop without taking up a lot of precious space. Aside from being a dependable piece of office equipment for producing professionally rendered documents, it can also be used for home purposes. Installation is simple as it allows you to choose between a parallel IEEE 1284 and USB port.

A resolution of 600 x 600 dpi (dots per inch) is used to provide documents that are clear and distortion free. Such resolution is enough to produce texts that are sharp and monochrome images that are detailed. Media types supported include ordinary paper, labels, cardstocks, transparencies and envelopes. The machine can work on media sizes from 3 inches x 5 inches to a max of 8.5 inches x 14 inches.

Making sure that the output requirements of the workplace are met, no matter how busy it gets, is the large input media capacity. It comes with a standard handling capacity of 370 sheets. This is possible, thanks to the multipurpose feeder (20 sheets), and another pair of media trays (100 and 250 sheets). Optional media feeders may be purchased and installed to achieve a media handling and Lexmark Optra toner cartridge capacity of 870 sheets.

The 4MB memory is also expandable to as much as 132MB. This is made possible by the couple of 100-pin DIMM expansion slots. For better storage of everyday printer tasks, a 2.1GB hard drive may be attached through an adapter (both sold separately). Printer languages included are PCL 6, Adobe PPDS and PostScript 3. Available typefaces are 86 PCL fonts, 89 PostScript fonts, 39 vector fonts and 5 bitmapped fonts.

There’s support for several different operating systems, minimizing compatibility issues. There’s also an included MarkVision utility, a tool which enables you to effectively manage printer use. The machine’s monthly duty cycle is set by its manufacturer at 20000 pages. Meeting this recommended number of monthly printouts helps in extending the life of the printer, as well as enjoying optimized performance.
