Hard drive crash Hitachi Travelstar from iBook?
I had an iBook. It broke. I yanked out the HDD. I plugged it into a IDE-USB device. It spins up, then dies. Neither my laptop nor my other iBook detects it. Does it need some form of external power?

Nope. 2.5″ hard drives are powered right off the IDE connection. Sounds like you’ve got a dead disk on your hands.
