40gb samsung IDE Hdd doesn’t work in P3 but in P4 and Higher works great?
when i attach 40gb IDE hardisk to P3 system it halted at bios start up and not continue further but when i attach 4 GB samsung IDE hd it detected and works fine. my 40 GB samsung hd works fine in P4 system .whats the problem please give solution to this….. thank u
Sounds like the BIOS on the old P3 system cannot recognize that drive. Maybe it’s limited to drives 32gb or smaller…
You could try a BIOS update if you can locate the correct one for something that old. It’s easier to just install a separate drive controller (PCI card) and connect your 40gb drive to that, instead of the motherboard IDE connector. Just be sure to buy a card that your intended OS supports.
