Install Kit
How easy/hard is it to install an exhaust kit myself?

Hello and thanks for any help/tips I receive.

My question is how hard is it to install an exhaust (ie – Flowmaster) kit myself? I’m pretty handy with mechanical things…do you need regular tools and a jack or do you need special equipment? I’m looking at installing the exhaust kit into a 2003 Chevy S-10 Extreme. Is this something I should have a shop do? Or is this something a reasonably handy guy with extra time can do (me). Thanks for your opinions!

I think its a reasonable DIY job for the shade tree mechanic. The problem you might run into is if any of the bolts and connections are rusty. This can make it a pain and not worth the trouble of just having a garage install it for you. Regular tools should work and you need jackstands or ramps. Don’t work under the car unless the wheels are blocked and its supported on jacks. Don’t rely on a hydralic or lifting jacks as the sole support. If these fail, your could be stuck or hurt.
