i built a computer for a relative this evening and it switches on no problem – the CPU/case fans spin, hard drive hums, CD/DVD drive opens, but there is no signal to the monitor. it also doesn’t beep at all when i switch it on. has anyone any idea what the problem may be? the specs of the computer are as follows:
case/power:
Antec NSK 4480B Black ATX/MATX Mini Tower – With 380W EarthWatts PSU
motherboard:
ASUS P5E-V HDMI iG35 Socket 775 onboard VGA 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard
processor:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 / 2.53 GHz ( 1066 MHz ) LGA775 Socket Processor CPU
RAM:
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 / 2GB PC2-6400 / XMS2 Xtreme Performance TwinX Matched DDR2 Dual Channel Memory
hard drive:
Seagate Barracuda 500GB / 32MB Cache / Internal 3.5″ SATA Hard Drive
CD/DVD:
Sony DRU-190S 20x Int. DVDRW Retail Kit SATA
i’ve got convertors. still no input
Stranger things has happened than a motherboard that is bad from the manufacture… Time for an RMA or a cheap graphics card…
But first take out one of the ram modules and check them both one at a time. I have had ram to go bad and the rest of the board still is in good working order, just had to RMA the ram…
Lets hope one of the pins on the processor heatsink fan didn’t unfasten and cause an instant overheat of the processor. They are very hard to get locked in…
