Finished putting together computer. Vista can’t detect any harddrives to install to. How can I install Vista ?
HDD: Maxtor MaXLine Pro 500 7H500F0 500GB
I can browse through some things but nothing I select is a drive which is acceptable.
I need a solution that is not buying Windows XP.
Stupid question, but does BIOS detect the drive properly, I see that this is a SATA. Your problem is the HDD, not the OS. There are special things to do to get the BIOS to initially see the SATA and set up as a boot drive. My Vista came w/ SATA already installed, so don’t know how to do it, but check the disk that comes w/ the drive…
