Is the PS3 compatible with an NCQ hard drive?

I have found a hard drive which I may use to upgrade my PS3 however I am unsure about the NCQ feature as I have not seen it on others.

Yes it is as long as HDD is a 2.5 inch SATA laptop HDD ! In other words the PS3 HDD is the exact same kind that’s used in laptop PCs ! Just make sure it has the same specs as the original PS3 HDD i.e. no more than 5400 rpm etc etc etc ! The NCQ will work !

I opted to use an external HDD simply because I didn’t want to have to go through the trouble backing up my saved data and then transferring it to a new installed HDD ! That can get quite expensive since all of the essential workings of the PS3 is stored on the HDD !
