How would I make this connection?
how would i connect a 3.5″ sata hdd to a system with a 1.8″ pata/zif connector on it?
A 3.5″ Sata drive is a desktop sized drive, so it simply won’t fit inside a laptop. Even if it’s a 2.5″ Sata drive, the wrong interface will keep it from working internally. You’ll have to go buy a new PATA notebook drive (which are still readily available).
Now, if all you need to do is connect a hard drive to your laptop on a temporary basis, you can get a USB converter (I love these things – connects ANY type of disk to any computer, no questions asked). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156102
