Discover Why DHA Omega3 Fish Oil Is Healthy For You
Most people in the Western world are deficient in DHA omega3 essential fatty acids. The omega-3 DHA is a long-chain of fatty acid, which is a member of a much bigger family of fatty acids, is simply called by the name omega-3.
Understand that the omega-3 group is composed of fatty acids that cannot be readily synthesized by the body in appropriate quantities. The group is made up of three – DHA, ALA, and EPA. And out of these three, DHA and EPA are the most critica but the first one is the most complex.
The “DHA” in the term is just an abbreviation of Docosahexaenoic Acid, a much longer scientific terminology that many people find hard to blurt out. You might also want to remember that this DHA is called the “brain food” and not for no reason. The reason, this fatty acid is the building block of the brain and truly composes 30% of it. In fact, it’s responsible for higher IQ levels, finer motor skills, and faster language development.
Fetus and newborn babies need this dha fish oil component in order to properly develop brain, nerve and eye tissues. It is not hard to reason why the World Health Organization (WHO) strongly recommended the inclusion in infant formulations of a certain amount of DHA that approximates the one found in breast milk. No wonder infant formulas in the stores all emphasize the DHA content.
Older people also gain scores of benefits the DHA Omega3 fatty acids provide. Recent evidence has shown that a regular dosage fights off Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases by boosting the memory. It also battles inflammatory conditions like arthritis, and other benefits such as the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, asthma, allergies, cancer, psoriasis, bowel diseases, and even obesity.
But, since dha omega3 cannot be produced by the body, the only way to have it is through intake of food. Generally it is obtained from fish oils, particularly from tuna which is said to have the highest concentration of DHA. Unfortunately, this fatty acid is the hardest to get inside our body as it is the most complex, and not many foods carry considerable amounts.
However, many food supplements based on dha omega3 have been manufactured to address the growing need and the apparent lack for it. When you look around for a dha fish oil supplement, you should be aware of some health hazards (as the result of pollution) like PCBs, lead and mercury contamination in fish oil.
Now that you know this, when you decide to incorporate DHA Omega3 fish oil supplements into your diet, make sure they have undergone the molecular distillation process. And an advanced purification technology which separates those harrmful toxins from the oil prior to adding it into the supplements.
