Help connecting a 50 SCSI MO drive to my computer?
I have a Sony SMO-F551 MO drive that has a 50 pin SCSI connector. I need to test it for work and cant figure out how to hook it up to my computer. The SCSI connection looks like an oversized IDE connector not the smaller SCSI connector. I have an open slot for a board or is there a IDE to SCSI cable available. Thank you for your help.
It sounds like it is Ultra 2 SCSI. You will need a SCSI controller card but you would have a hard time finding one with that connector. Fortunately SCSI is usually backwards compatible so any controller should work with a suitable cable.
The only IDE to SCSI adaptors I have seen are for connecting IDE devices to SCSI controllers not the other way round.
