Can you plug an external hard drive into a mp3 video player that has a usb?

Im wanting one but Ill have to buy a cheaper one, one that has only about 4gb so I was wondering if you can plug an external hard drive into the usb port and that way Id have a ton of hard drive space.

No , you can’t:

A) The player will “talk” only to the memory he has inside (taking your idea further- open the mp3 and remove the 4gb of memory…but no- it won’t work).

B) Most players can handle “up to” a certain amount of memory. Take the Sansa Fuze or Sansa Clip players- they have a slot for a micro SD card, but they support only up to 32 GB in total (if you have a clip/fuze with 16 GB you can add only more 16 GB on the card – even if there are bigger memory cards).

C) Most players work with flash drives – and external hard drives are… well…. hard drives, different kind of memory.
