Building a custom PC, are these components compatible, any suggestions on the cooling system?

I need to know if these components will somehow bottleneck, feel free to suggest any missing components.

If you purchased the retail version of Intel Core i7-970, it will come with a CPU cooling fan. This should be sufficient for normal CPU cooling. But if you intent to over clock it beyond its specification. Additional research will be needed on the proper CPU cooling method/device.

Bottle neck – On intel site, they stated the memory requirement is DDR3-800/1066 for a total of 3 channels at maximum of (3x8GB/memory module) 24GB. Your 1600 is a little overkill or wasted capacity. With that said, the price difference between the two is minimal. 1600 should be backward compatible.

Missing component – Power Supply
Back in the days, any standard ATX power supply would do. But with the increase in voltage requirement for these new CPUs and graphic card. I would pay a little more attention on a good power supply.

Additional component – Thermometer/Fan controller.
In order to manually manage cooling for the CPU and other component. You’ll need to have a method to measure the temperature variation. Most motherboard have a built in CPU thermometer and its BIOS will have the ability to display such information. Some motherboard manufacture provide an application to read/display such info without the needs to revert back to BIOS to view this. But there are no simple method on how to manually manage these temperature variation. This is where the fan controller come into play. Beside knowing how hot you are running, you’ll need the fan controller to manage these temperature, or simply the ability to switch on the fan (multiple fans) and adjust it speed accordingly.
