will a pcix card work in a pci slot?
before you answer please understand that im not talking about a pci express card. im talking about a pci X. card. its the longer card that fits in a standard pci slot.
i have a Lsi Logic PCBX520-A2 card and am wanting to put it in a desktop and dont want to fork out $50 for a PCI or PCI-E. SCSI ULTRA-320 controller.
Technically, yes. PCI-X was meant to be backward compatible with PCI. A 64-bit PCI slot would be best, but it should work in a 32-bit slot as well. No guarantees, though. Just because it should doesn’t mean it will.
