How can I turn my external hard drive into a ftp server my friends can access to download stuff; cheep or free
I need to turn my 200 gig external hard drive into a ftp server that my friends can access as well as a place for me to store info that I can access from any cpu. I would like to find a free or cheep, easy to use program that will allow me to do this. I currently run xp home. Any help is appreciated.
you can’t just turn a drive into an FTP server, you are going to have to load FTP Server software on your PC. I suggest bulletFTP server. Think its $30. Then you are going to have to configure your router to allow ftp traffic to your pc. Assign appropriate logins and permissions and people from the outside can get in.
