There is nothing more exciting than the feeling that you get after you purchase an amazing smart like the Evo. Touch screen technology has expanded wildly over the past few years and truly amazing things are now possible with compact, easy to use devices. Since these expensive items are very fragile, it is important to make sure we take care of them. While an HTC Evo screen protector may prevent scratches and dings to the screen itself, a solid protective case can provide the same level of security for the remainder of the cell phone, preventing nicks and dings from appearing on the case and guarding the sensitive electronics from drops and impacts. ABS plastic cases offer the best protection against scratches. A plastic hard case forms a protective shell over the back of the phone’s surface (with space for the kick stand to deploy) and will deflect any and all light to moderate impacts while protecting sensitive electronic components from harm. Plastic cases do not fare as well in drops, however, as they do not always provide much cushioning, and while they protect against scratches very well, they tend to increase the overall size of the phone.
When impacts are not much of a risk, a silicone sleeve may be the best fit for the phone. Silicone sleeves may be the simplest of all the available HTC Evo accessories: simply slip the case over the phone’s body and it is ready to go. Silicone provides minor drop protection, as it is elastic and soft, as well as excellent protection from scratches and dents. Silicone cases offer an inexpensive option for those who would rather carry their phone in their pocket.
Rubberized cases combine some of the protective benefits of plastic cases with the elasticity and shock absorption of silicone. While these large cases tend to significantly enlarge the phone’s width and height, they offer the greatest level of protection over. For expensive smart phones such as the HTC Evo, this is a prime consideration.
Considering each different type of case in turn and comparing the relative drawbacks and benefits is an important step after completing an HTC Evo purchase. If you have a perfect case equipped to the phone you can be sure that it will last you a long time. Whether silicone for ease and scratch protection, plastic to ward off impacts, or rubberized to save the phone from the typical minor disasters of modern life, a case will keep the Evo working like new.
