HELP! My USB port is broken! Can it be repaired?
I have a Hitachi SimpleDrive hard drive with an A to mini-B USB connection. The mini-B USB port on the hard drive is broken, and is now stuck inside the enclosure. I was wondering if there is a type of technician, or maybe even a computer store, who can solder in a new port? And if so, would it be very expensive?
On a side note, there’s also the matter of taking the enclosure out. The case looks as if it’s permanently sealed, and so if one were to try and open it, there would be the risk of damaging or even destroying the enclosure. So is there even a point in trying to get it out?
I think your only option is to discard the existing enclosure and put the HDD on a new enclosure.
