how do i hook up a hp netserver storage system/6 ?
I got a HP etserver storage system/6 server and I was wondering what I need to hook this up to my home PC’s. it has six harddrives in it. so I figured it would be great to store stuff on. But it does not have a RJ-45 connection. do I need a special router? I do have cable internet
I only paid $10. for it so i dont want to invest alot if it is not worth it.
That’s a real dinosaur, and most likely the hard drives in there are each 4 GB or less, making it a grand total of not very much.
I believe that box has a parallel SCSI interface, so in addition to getting a SCSI controller card like an adaptec 2940, you’ll need an appropriate cable. If there is an electronics surplus place near you, you can probably pick these up for a song. But remember, the end result is that you’ll get maybe 24 GB of storage, while burning more power than your entire computer. You can buy a contemporary external USB drive, and get 500 GB for around $100. Or a 32 GB flash drive for $50.
