How do I get computer to recognize portable hard drive (again)?

Okay so I got a Smartdisk Firelite portable hard drive, though I have used it before on numerous occasions for some unknown reason my computer seems not to see it anymore. Now theres WAY TOO MUC on it for it to simply vanish, how would I go about trying to get this drive recognized again. I’ve tried going to Smartdisk.com but I think it’s a closed website (Sold out to Verbatim), either way please help me access this drive it’s got important things on it like music (over 14,000) and photos. Got any answers?

Good start would be to try it on a different computer.
That would tell you whether it was a problem with the drive or with the computer.
