Problem with SSD trying to Dual Boot?
So I just bought an OCZ Vertex 2 120GB SSD and installed windows 7 on it. Then I was going to put Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and accidentally hit to automatically have Linux pick the partitions which messed everything up. That led me to format all of the partitions on my SSD in Windows and now when I try to install windows on it it says it doesn’t have a root file/folder or something like that. PLEASE I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.
when you format all your partitions
make sure you leave the one partition for win7 in NTFS or any other win file system
windows normally does NOT recognize the ext3 or ext4 file systems used for Linux
also win may require the first partition for itself
and all others non-win
hence reformat using above
then first install win7
then reinstall Linux – LInux will recognize existing win install and create your grub boot manager accordingly for dual boot
if you first would do Linux and then win7 – that normally is messy because by default since 14+ years microsoft never accepted or welcomed any other OS and simply overwrote MBR to delete dual boot OS
