Help Installing WD Scorpio Hard Drive In Laptop?

So the hard drive on my laptop crashed, and I bought a WD Scorpio Drive (model WD2500BEVSRTL). I’ve installed drives before, but when I opened this up there was a blue sheet of paper informing me that this drive does not come with they typical software and drivers that would normally come with a drive, and that I should either get it professionally installed or come to support.wdc.com for assistance. When I come here, I have no idea what I’m doing. The only software for installation I see is Data Lifeguard Tools, but it works when with windows running, and since I don’t have a hard drive right now with Windows on it, this is not an option. I’ve got the hard drive in place on my laptop, but when I try to install Windows, it tells me that there are none found. When I run a diagnostic test in the BIOS, it says the hard drive is fine. So I guess my question is, what do I need to do in order to get my laptop up and running? If someone points me in the right direction, I know I can do this.

I am not that familiar with this situation, but you must have a SATA drive. When you boot from the xp disk, the first screen asks for 3rd party drivers. This is where you will need to put in the driver disk for the drive. Somehow somewhere on the WD website you can find them ,burn them to a cd and install them at the screen.
